Creating characters has always been part of my life. During my school years, I made dolls from whatever was available - clay, cloth, wire, wood, tin, sticks, paper - and dressed them to represent people from my favorite stories or movies.
I earned a BFA from Oklahoma State University. I received life experience from a variety of opportunities-- work at Disneyland, a bank, an ice cream store, a toy/costume shop, traveling around the world as an airline stewardess (including Viet Nam during the war). I married, had 2 sons, eventually became an art teacher, did some graduate work in costume design and theatre, bringing me back again to creating characters. As a costume designer, I received awards and accolades from Denver Drama Critics and Westword newspaper.

How people present themselves to the world and
the visual messages they give through their facial expressions, their
postures and their choices of clothes and adornment are, in my opinion,
more truthful and even louder than what is actually said.
These days,
I am happily still creating doll/people/ characters using many of the
same materials I used when I was young. I prefer mixed media because of
the many options and challenges they present. I live and work in
Denver, Colorado.
